I am the principal designer and owner of Helena Studios. Although originally going to school for Interior Design, I took a side step and started my working career in the restaurant world, opening a boutique cafe in Vancouver in my early twenties. For the two decades after,  I was continuously renovating and selling my own homes while helping friends design theirs on the side, so my official transition back into interior design happened quite naturally.  

 

Having a passion for all things creative, and loving the challenge of making something beautiful out of the old and worn, I have been building a portfolio of a vast variety of projects from off-grid island homes in the Pacific Northwest, rebuilding heritage homes in Vancouver to residential homes in upscale Los Angeles neighborhoods like Palos Verdes and the surrounding SouthBay neighborhoods..

Creating homes and spaces that are easy to be in has been a staple from the beginning.  My style is rooted in an aesthetic of calm, focusing on warmth, simplicity and texture, while adding a note of vintage and character, making each project unique and personal.   I love to work on all styles of homes and love the challenge of bringing out the special character each home has to offer. A home should be a reflection of the people who live there.  I am here to create that while adding value to your home and depth to its story, with a touch of the unexpected.
